“The Amazing Race” returns for its 29th season in a rather unexpected time slot. It’s not that Thursday is so odd, but 9 p.m. (CBS/Ch. 2) is unusual.
(It’s replacing “Training Day,” which is being shuffled off to Saturdays at 7 p.m. to burn off its remaining episodes. The ratings for that show weren’t great, and with the death of series star Bill Paxton it clearly has no future.)
